Dental
Hygiene program in the Philippines was established in June 20, 1952 through Republic Act 768 otherwise known as "Philippine Dental Hygienist Law".
Since
then, no organization took an effort to help said program in its advancement; until
the establishment of Philippine Dental Hygienists’ Association in 2013 as an
affiliate of Philippine Dental Association. The government recognized the
association in 2015, through its Securities and Exchange Commission certificate.
The Mission of this Association is to establish a good rapport with the public to ensure an effective oral treatment, assure an equal quality access on oral health care for all, further advance the standards of dental hygiene education on a national and international level, publish research and represent the concerns of the dental hygienist.

We
aggressively started the series of seminars beginning July 2015. We have
discussed practice of dental hygiene here and abroad, pedodontics, dental
public health and periodontology.
It
was a team effort in planning the whole year. Dr. Reyes , who is also a hygienist and Dr. Ferrer who wholeheartedly helped the association in giving the Filipino Hygienists’ the
advancement that we need.
I
recently became an individual member of the International Federation of Dental
Hygienists. Hopefully before my term ends, my Association’s membership can be
achieved. We are in the infancy stage and still in the process of coordinating
the government requirements of having our own receipt.
Thank
you for taking time to read.
